For Agriculture
The version of the DynaFlight™
system that is specifically designed for agricultural
applications is called DynaFlight-AirAgII™.
Its basic components
are described in detail under
DynaFlight™ system; here we explain how DynaFlight-AirAgII™
actually works in the field.
Method
During start-up on
the ground, the pilot selects a customer, chooses a new
job and then selects a swath width. Once in the air, the
pilot will spray his first line
- anywhere on the field, which establishes the
baseline and automatically sets up all the
rest of the lines needed to cover the area. This is all recorded on the DynaFlight-AirAgII™
system's map and displayed on the
DynaViz™
display. The
pilot can then fly those lines in whatever pattern that he or
she chooses. As the pilot flies down the Roadway line, the FlexGuide™ fills the line in with black,
showing that line has been covered. At the same time,
the bars at the top of the DynaViz display provides an
instant view of the coverage.
Without ever
looking away from the windshield, the pilot can control
the entire DynaFlight™
system via the buttons installed on the ErgoGrip™
control grip which replaces the standard grip. Any
information the pilot requires, such as customers, jobs,
patterns, navigation, rotating moving maps and so on,
can be displayed by the touch of these button.

Once back on the
ground, the pilot plucks the CompactFlash™ computer card
from the onboard processor and plugs it into the ground
PC, thereby transferring all data about the day's
work — job maps, degree of coverage, volume deposited,
and so on — to the AirAg Office management software,
facilitating production of reports, maps, invoices and
all the other details of the air agriculture business.
Using the DynaFlight™
system is that
simple.
Advantages
- Since pilots do not have to look from the
windshield to the light bar and then down to a
screen in the cockpit to determine their accuracy,
the DynaFlight-AirAgII™
system is safer.
-
Should the pilot miss a spot or need to end the job
before completion,
the
line(s) not yet done will remain illuminated on the
display, so finishing that job (even on a different
day) becomes a simple matter of filling in the
line(s). No more flying in circles while looking at
a moving map display trying to figure out what has
been missed!
-
Pilots have the
flexibility
to respond quickly to sudden changes in conditions
because they know it is easy to pick up where they
left off, thanks to the FlexGuide™.
- In choosing
their own pattern of application, rather than being
forced to fly a pre-set pattern, pilots can reduce
turn times, as well as make fewer inefficient
teardrop turns, thereby reducing stress from
G-loading on themselves and their aircraft.
- The greatly improved accuracy of the system
enables pilots to lay down wider swaths, further
increasing efficiency by reducing turn times and
length of time per job, which is
cost-effective.
- DynaFlight-AirAgII™ maintains a permanent flight
record of all applications for up to three seasons.
