The DynaFlight System
DynaNav is a leader in the integration of GPS technology into utility aircraft. Not only do DynaFlight™ guidance systems provide precise navigation and data recording for aerial applications such as agriculture, forestry, seismic, photography and search and rescue, they do it through a user interface that enables pilots to keep their attention on flying, never having to turn away from the windshield to check or change swath or other patterns. And DynaFlight™ systems are light, typically under ten pounds in weight. The on-board system is complemented by ground management software that facilitates reporting for all types of aerial applications.
The DynaFlight™ system itself is designed to be deceptively simple. It consists of the DynaViz™ display, the modified joystick called the ErgoGrip™ control, cyclic or collective, and the processor unit containing the DynaFlight™ software, pictured below. It may be hard to believe that such a compact and economical system has the powerful features listed below, but they are the product of DynaNav's philosophy: simple by design and flexible in action.
Features
- The electroluminescent DynaViz™ display:
- is mounted on the dashboard within but not intruding on the pilot's line of sight;
- provides a head's up graphical display of the pilot's exact location relative to the ground and of the many other functions of the software;
- is clearly visible in any light, as well as adjustable for darkness; and
- enables the pilot to fly straighter by drawing the eye forward down the centre line of the swath as if down the centre of a road.
- The ErgoGrip™ control, cyclic or collective grip:
- controls the entire DynaFlight™ system; and
- easily integrates the smoker, PTT (Press to Transmit) and other switches.
- The DynaFlight™ software:
- is adaptable to all forms of aerial application and deployment, regardless of size or shape of area covered;
- provides full navigation to and from all areas relevant to the job at hand;
- "auto-magically" draws spray or other patterns specific to the job, rather then relying on preset patterns;
- darkens swath lines or drop points as they are covered, maximizing accuracy of job completion by highlighting areas yet to be covered;
- offers various map displays, including rotating moving and job review maps;
- maintains permanent flight records for up to three seasons;
- accommodates an unlimited number of customers, jobs finished and unfinished, patterns, navigation points, polygons, etc.;
- optional telemetry allows live tracking as well as upload/download of target points and mission plans between aircraft and ground stations;
- uses CompactFlash™ data transfer to download all information on the day's work to the ground station; and
- complements the onboard system with comprehensive ground management software that generates reports, maps, invoices and other details of each day's jobs.
