Troubleshooting and Quick Reference Guide

AirAg:

GPS dropouts showing a Flag Window "GPS Not Good: Status 1, Satellites 0"

The GPS antenna cable or connectors are bad. Check antenna connectors, make sure they are tight. If OK, replace antenna cable and try.

The GPS antenna requires a ground plane - minimum 6" on the square or more, bonded properly to the GPS antenna.

GPS dropouts showing a Flag Window "GPS Not Good: Status (1 to 3), Satellites (1 to 6)"

Possibly time of day and season with poor satellite visibility (if only happens at certain time of day).

The GPS antenna position is too close to the main rotor of the helicopter.

Interference of the GPS by another system in the aircraft, try turning off other avionics equipment such as the normal GPS system.

Navigation window shows a "W" on the screen.

If the "W" shows continuously, then the differential signal from the Satellite is not being received. If this is the case, the most likely situation is that either the paid subscription has run out on Omnistar or you have selected the wrong differential source. Check your 'STATISTICS' window and check differential status. Sometimes the "W" will show up intermittently as well.

GPS dropouts showing a Flag Window "GPS Not Good: Status 1, Satellites 0"

  1. The GPS antenna cable or connectors are bad. Check antenna connectors, make sure they are tight. If OK, replace antenna cable and try again.

GPS dropouts showing a Flag Window "GPS Not Good: Status (1 to 3), Satellites (1 to 6)"

The GPS antenna position is too close to the main rotor of the helicopter.

Navigation window shows a "W" on the screen.

If the "W" shows continuously, then the differential signal from the Omnistar is not being received. If this is the case, the most likely situation is that the subscription has run out. Check your 'STATISTICS' window and see if 'User Enabled'.

If the "W" is showing up intermittently then it will be more likely the antenna location occluding either the differential satellite or some of the GPS satellites. If this is the case move the antenna to a spot as far from the rotor mast as possible and with a clear view of the sky. (see the installation manual)

Does not show deployed or retrieved bags when activating the deploy or retrieve switches on the helicopter.

The Dual Relay box is not connected into the system to sense the deploy or retrieve switches

If Dual Relay box appears to be connected, check the power and ground of the inputs to the Dual relay box. When switches are not activated the two connectors (1 & 4 for deploy or 2 & 3 for retrieve) should either both have 28 volts or zero volts, when the appropriate switch is activated, one of the wires should change to ground or 28 volts accordingly. If you find the opposite happen, the source wire (not the switched wire) should be connected to power or ground accordingly.

If the above appears to be correct, contact DynaNav for further information and parts replacement.

SeisBag-Ground (Telemetry)

Live telemetry does not work for tracking or data transfer:

The right com port used by the Telemetry system on the base computer has to be selected on the software. The normal default is for Com 1, however, you may be plugged into a different com port on your computer.

In the gray Telemetry box you should see a solid right light indicating the system is powered and the antenna is correctly connected (if the red light is flashing, try re-powering the box and if still flashing it shows an antenna fault).

Also in the gray Telemetry box you should see the green TX light flickering every 10 seconds. If it does not flicker, then one of the following is the problem:

The key card was not plugged into the computer when the SeisBag-Ground software was booted.

The cable between the computer and the gray box has failed (check continuity between 2 to 2, 3 to 3, and 5 to 5)

The comm port on the computer has failed.

Make sure that you have selected the area you are working with under the "Telemetry - Active Areas" pull down menu (V4.5).

Upgrading your software

At any time you can upgrade your software to the latest for your version:

first check the version of your software when you boot the program

then download software click Downloads on the  side bar of the web page and select "PRODUCT SOFTWARE" then the version of software for your system

if you have your access code, enter it and 'Go Directly to Downloads''

If you do not have an access code, then enter the information required (please enter the company web address) and proceed with your download.

You will be given an access code at this time - take note of this for future entry and for your License files.

When downloaded and saved on your computer, you can run this self-extracting .exe and hit "Setup" and step your way through the Install Wizard.

This new Program image should be copied onto your KEY CARD and remove the old install image or folder.

When upgrading programs on the Aircraft PC Card, you will be asked to Browse and select the drive letter of the PC Card.

On Aircraft cards, be sure to run them once in the aircraft before transferring data on to them.
